ChildhoodJudy was born in Brownsville, Texas, the oldest of five children. When she was 5, her family moved to Peru, South America, as missionaries. She had a fantastic and nearly idyllic upbringing there. EducationJudy returned to the United States for my last year of high school and college. After graduating from Columbia Bible College, in South Carolina, with a B.A. in Biblical Education, she studied linguistics at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1975, she went to Peru and thoroughly enjoyed several years of linguistic study and Bible translation work there. What a rich task Bible translation is! She could tell a few stories! FamilyIn 1980, Judy and I were married in a simple bilingual ceremony in Peru. We returned to the U.S. for a couple of years, then moved to Colombia, where we served as missionaries until 1994. We have many happy memories of those years. God gave us two daughters, Christie and Robin, both born in Bogota, Colombia. In 1994, we returned to the Dallas, Texas, area, where we have lived ever since. Christie was married in July 2002, and a year later, she and Jason presented us with our first grandson, Daniel Reed McLean, who is a great joy. Deborah Judith McLean followed in December 2005. Both grandchildren are special beyond words. |
